Wilder José Torres Cogollo is a 17-year-old young man living in the central sector of the Olaya Herrera neighborhood in Cartagena. He lives with his mother and family in a stratum 1 home, facing daily economic and health challenges while surrounded by the love and dedication of his primary caregiver.
Wilder has been diagnosed with infantile cerebral palsy and psychomotor delay, a condition originating from prenatal hypoxia at birth. Since his first days of life, his journey has required constant attention, permanent therapies, and comprehensive support from his family.
His mother, Carmen Cecilia, has completely assumed the role of caregiver, dedicating a large part of her life to her son’s well-being. Currently, the family does not have a stable income and survives thanks to the solidarity of neighbors and people close to them who are aware of their situation.
In addition to his primary diagnosis, Wilder has faced various health complications throughout his life, including convulsive episodes that are currently controlled through medical treatment. Although his mother recognizes that progress has been slow, she continues to accompany him daily in his therapies and exercises, always maintaining hope for improving his quality of life.
Wilder currently attends therapeutic processes from Monday to Friday, which are complemented at home with basic exercises and physical stimulation. However, the family believes that having a rehabilitation gym at home would represent a significant opportunity to strengthen his therapeutic process, facilitate exercises, and provide him with greater well-being and comfort in his daily life.
Despite economic and emotional difficulties, his mother continues to fight with love, faith, and commitment, dreaming of new opportunities that will allow Wilder to achieve a better quality of life and greater possibilities for development.
