Linda Barrera Macea is a 12-year-old girl who lives in the San Francisco sector of the municipality of Copacabana, Antioquia. She resides with her parents and three siblings in a stratum 1 home, where family unity and care have been the foundation of her life.
Linda was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. According to her mother, this condition was caused by medical negligence during childbirth, as she did not receive timely care and the birth occurred in an ambulance. Since then, the family has navigated physical, emotional, and economic challenges, always maintaining their commitment to her well-being.
Despite these difficulties, Linda is described as a joyful child who is deeply cherished by her family. She possesses significant cognitive skills, recognizing colors, numbers, sizes, and basic concepts. She is also able to express many of her daily needs and communicate with those who accompany her.
Currently, Linda cannot walk independently. To support her mobility and quality of life, her mother performs stimulation activities at home, such as massages and support exercises. Her mother is dedicated full-time to her care, while her father works in construction to support the household.
The family dreams of accessing tools that will strengthen Linda’s rehabilitation process. Their goal is to improve her quality of life and provide her with greater opportunities for well-being and participation within her family and social environment.
