Celeste’s story began even before her birth. When her mother was seven months pregnant, doctors informed her that her baby had a condition associated with the Zika virus, news that completely transformed her family’s dreams and expectations.
Since then, the path has been full of challenges, learning, and a lot of love.
Today, Celeste is 10 years old and lives with her family in Cartagena. Despite the difficulties she faces due to microcephaly and cerebral palsy with epilepsy, she continues to be a deeply loved girl, surrounded by the unconditional commitment and dedication of her mother, who has made her care a life mission.
Every day at home, they perform mobility exercises to stimulate her physical capabilities and prevent her condition from further limiting her development. However, the lack of specialized equipment makes it difficult to perform these activities safely and with the proper positioning she needs.
One of the greatest challenges for her family is that Celeste has significant difficulties sitting stably. They do not have a therapeutic space that allows her to remain correctly positioned during her exercises, which limits both her rehabilitation and her comfort in daily activities.
For this reason, today they turn to the solidarity of those who wish to be part of this story.
The Home Rehabilitation Gym will allow Celeste to perform her therapies daily from home, promoting her posture, her mobility, the prevention of deformities, and a better quality of life. Furthermore, it will provide greater peace of mind to her family, who fights every day to offer her the best development opportunities.
