Viviana Rosales is the mother of Cristian Camilo, a 12-year-old boy who lives in the city of Cali, in the Puertas del Sol neighborhood. Her story is a journey of love, resilience, and absolute devotion.
Cristian was born prematurely at 32 weeks of gestation. The day after his birth, he experienced prenatal hypoxia that marked the beginning of a complex medical process, requiring a one-month stay in the Intensive Care Unit. Since then, his life changed completely.
Today, Cristian lives with microcephaly, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy. He is completely dependent on his mother’s care: he does not walk or speak, and his mobility is very limited, only achieving some movements with his arms. Despite everything, he is a child who feels, perceives love, and enjoys small moments, such as when he plays with a ball or when they help him paint.
Viviana’s reality is even more challenging, as she does not have a family support network in the city. It is just her and her son facing each day, building a life together based on unconditional love, patience, and hope.
Despite the difficulties, Viviana does not give up. Every day she rises with the strength of a mother fighting for her son’s well-being, dreaming of better opportunities for him, tools that will allow him to improve his quality of life, and the support that makes this path more bearable.
This is a story that reminds us that behind every diagnosis there is a family that fights, a mother who does not stop, and a child who, in his own way, continues to teach the true meaning of life.
