Isabel's Story

Location: Bogotá

Constanza Zamudio is the mother and caregiver of Isabel Sofía Soler Zamudio, a 7-year-old girl diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Their story together began unexpectedly and full of challenges from the very first moment. They currently live in Bogotá.

Isabel Sofía was born prematurely at 25 weeks of gestation during a very difficult delivery. During that process, her mother presented severe health complications, including cardiac arrest and preeclampsia. At that time, the prognosis was not encouraging and the chances of survival were minimal. However, both managed to pull through and today they have spent seven years traveling this path together.

As a result of her premature birth, Isabel Sofía presented severe hypoxia and grade IV intraventricular bleeding—conditions that marked her development and brought multiple challenges throughout her growth. Despite this, her mother describes her as her greatest promise of love, a profound meaning that is even carried in her name.

Currently, Isabel Sofía does not have formal therapeutic support, so at home they have built daily routines focused on stimulating all areas of her development through play and constant accompaniment. Constanza is a full-time caregiver and has been unemployed for a year. The family has no fixed income and survives thanks to small handicraft jobs that she does with knitting, facing each day with effort, creativity, and hope.

At this moment, Isabel Sofía has a hip dislocation that appeared suddenly and will likely require surgical intervention. For this reason, having a rehabilitation device that promotes proper posture is fundamental for her well-being, especially in the absence of constant therapies.

Seven years of love, struggle, and hope

A PROMISE OF LOVE THAT FIGHTS EVERY DAY
