Keila Andrea Beltrán Cuentas is a 23-year-old woman residing in the El Pozón neighborhood of Cartagena de Indias. She lives in a stratum 1 household with her mother and siblings, where family unity and care have been essential in facing the challenges of her health condition.
Keila was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a condition that originated at birth due to a lack of oxygen to the brain. As a result, she does not walk or speak and has hearing impairment, depending entirely on the permanent care of her mother.
Despite these difficulties, her family has maintained hope and a commitment to her well-being. Thanks to therapeutic support and her mother’s constant effort, Keila has shown significant progress, achieving small improvements that motivate the family to continue fighting for a better quality of life.
Her mother, who is a full-time caregiver, does not have a stable income and relies on the support of relatives and supportive individuals who have accompanied their journey. Even with economic limitations, she continues to provide Keila with love, dedication, and all the care necessary for her daily well-being.
The family learned about the home rehabilitation program through another beneficiary family, which sparked hope in them to access a tool that could strengthen Keila’s rehabilitation process. Currently, her mother’s greatest dream is to provide Keila with new opportunities for mobility and well-being through a home rehabilitation gym, allowing her to strengthen her motor system and continue advancing in her therapeutic process from home.
