Thaliana Marcela Aguilar Duarte is a 9-year-old girl who lives in the municipality of Codazzi, Cesar, in the Las Margaritas 1 sector. She lives in a stratum 1 home with her parents and relatives, who strive daily to provide her with well-being and better opportunities for her rehabilitation process.
Thaliana has a diagnosis of cerebral hypoxia, a condition that originated at birth due to a lack of oxygen to the brain. Since then, the family has faced multiple medical, economic, and emotional challenges to ensure her care and therapies.
Her father relates that, in the search for alternatives to improve his daughter’s quality of life, they traveled to different cities seeking specialized support; however, economic limitations and difficult access to continuous treatments have been major obstacles to the rehabilitation process. Although at some points she managed to receive therapy packages, these were insufficient for Thaliana’s permanent needs.
Currently, the family performs stimulation exercises at home with the few available resources. With the support of her grandmother and her parents, Thaliana receives massages on her arms and legs, mobility exercises, work on a therapeutic ball, and water activities to help relax her limbs and strengthen her mobility. Despite the pain and physical difficulties she faces, her family continues to accompany her with love, commitment, and hope.
Her father works as a painter and supports his family with limited income, a situation that makes it difficult to cover the costs of private therapies and specialized treatments. Even so, they maintain the hope of accessing rehabilitation tools that will allow them to strengthen Thaliana’s physical development and significantly improve her quality of life.
The family dreams of continuing Thaliana’s therapeutic process from home, providing her with greater opportunities for well-being, autonomy, and integral development.
